Wedding rings are meant to last a lifetime. You wear them every day, at work, on holiday, every time you wash your hands. That is why the choice deserves more than a quick look in passing. To make sure your rings suit you aesthetically too, we usually set aside two to three appointments for the selection process. Here is how it works at our shop in the Wengengasse and what you might want to think about.

Before you come: a few things to consider

You do not need to know anything before visiting us. A little thought in advance does make the consultation easier, though:

Your daily life: do you work a lot with your hands? Then sturdy profiles and simpler finishes are often more practical.
Your other jewellery: do you mostly wear yellow gold or lighter metals? Your wedding ring should sit well alongside it.
The engagement ring: if it will be worn next to the wedding ring, we pay attention to width and shape so the two go together.
Pictures: photos of rings you like help us a great deal. A screenshot on your phone is perfect.

Online we show a selection of our base models. On each model page you can put together metal, width, stone setting and engraving for your enquiry. In the shop we carry far more, including pieces from our partners Kühnel Trauringe, IVA Jewelry and PALIDO Diamonds.

Appointment 1 · First consultation (60 to 90 minutes)

We look at models together, talk through your ideas and discuss the key questions. We plan enough time so that nothing is decided in a hurry.

Material: yellow, white or rose gold (585 / 750), yellow gold also in 916 (22 carat), platinum or bicolour. Our models are also available in red gold, white gold palladium, palladium and silver.
Profile: classic domed, flat, angular, braided
Width and height, matched to your hand and your everyday life
Stone setting (often only on the bride's ring), diamond quality, setting style
Engraving: date, initials, coordinates, inside or outside

You try on different models at your leisure and see how they look on your hand. Do compare. A ring that looks plain in the window can look quite different once it is on your finger.

Finding the right metal

Many couples ask us which metal is "the right one". There is no single answer, but here are some pointers:

585 and 750 gold: the number shows the gold content in thousandths. 750 gold contains more fine gold and has a richer colour, while 585 gold is a little harder in everyday wear.
White gold: is often rhodium plated, meaning it has a bright coating. Over the years this layer can wear and is easy to refresh.
Platinum: heavy and naturally white. It needs no rhodium plating.
Bicolour: combines two colours in one ring, for example yellow and white gold.

A couple's rings do not have to be identical, by the way. Often the profile and metal match, while the bride's ring has a stone.

Appointment 2 · Decision and size (30 minutes)

After a few days to think it over, you come back, make the final decision and we measure your exact ring sizes. If you choose your rings from a standard collection, we place the order directly with the workshop. Delivery usually takes 3 to 4 weeks.

For a custom piece, we finish the sketch together and obtain a binding quote from the master goldsmith. Your ring is then made by our partner goldsmith in Ulm. For an engagement ring or a special stone, we can also advise you on loose, certified diamonds according to the 4 Cs.

A tip on sizing: fingers vary in the morning and evening, in heat and in cold. That is why we prefer to measure carefully rather than rely on an old size.

Appointment 3 · Handover (15 minutes)

We check the fit on site, give the rings a final polish if needed and hand them over complete with case and care instructions. You try them on once more without any rush. Only when everything fits do they go home with you.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should we come? About 8 to 12 weeks before the wedding date, so we have a buffer for size adjustments or special requests.

Do we need an appointment? You are welcome to drop in during opening hours. For a wedding ring consultation we recommend booking, so we can give you our full attention.

What does a pair cost? That depends heavily on the material and stones. Classic 585 gold rings start at around 600 € per pair, with platinum and diamonds correspondingly higher. We write down the final price for you in advance.

Can we reorder just one ring? Yes. Most manufacturers still supply reorders years later.
